2010: New record deal: |
Rough Silk just signed a new record--deal with Rock It Up / Icewarrior-Records. The band is currently working on a new album. It will be the follow-up to the last album "A new beginning" - the comeback-album from 2009 with a new line-up feat. guitarplayer Mike Mandel, bassplayer André Hort and drummer Alex Wenn. The new album will again be "Rough", which stands for the real heavy (sometimes even Thrash-, Hardcore- and Death- ) Metal influences, and "Silk" - for the unusual singer-songwriter-elements and piano-parts - as well. |

2010: Ferdy Doernberg will be released his new solo-album at Febuary: |
Ferdy Doernberg´s new album "travelling light" will be released in Europe on Rebellion-Records. The album was mastered by Michael Hankel, the guitarplayer from Holy Moses at his Blue Castle-Studio. The album sounds very warm and has is not "compressed to death".
The album contains 16 tracks.
Here are the songtitles :
1. Does A Dobro Rust When You Play It In The Rain ? ( instrumental )
2. Shed A Tear
3. In Search Of A Catchy Chorus
4. E.T. Phone Home
5. A No-haired Hippie Like Me
6. Keep Me In Your Heart When I..m Gone
7. Along The Road
8. May God Save Us From Religion ( duet with Joseph Parsons )
9. Jugband
10 All The Things You Do
11. Integrity ( featuring Sabina Claassen & Michael Hankel )
12. You Don..t Know What You..ve Got ..till It..s Gone
13. Wah-Whoopf ( instrumental )
14. Travelling Light
15. The Suburbs Of Paradise
16a. Django Meets The Undead Scotsman ( instrumental )
16b. Mutants At The Shopping-Mall ( duet with Johnny Gioeli )
"May God Save Us From Religion" is a duet with Joseph Parsons, who co-wrote the song, too.
The same goes for Johnny Gioeli on "Mutants at the shopping-mall"
All the other songs were written by Ferdy Doernberg alone.
The drums were played by Mike Terrana, Alex Wenn and Ferdy's brother Curt. The basstracks were performed by Anke Sobek ( also double-bass ), Ecki Huedepohl and André Hort. Katja Krause sang harmony vocals on 3 tracks.
Ferdy sang and played everything else apart from one song "integrity" where Michael Hankel played electric guitars. Sabina Classen ( Holy Moses ) sang a duet on the same song with Ferdy.
Most of the album was recorded at Ferdy's studio ( the Droehnwerk ) at Bad Nenndorf and additional recordings were done in New York City and Hamburg.
The album is again a singer/songwriter-album with a lot of slide-guitar and many acoustic parts - but also has it..s "rock"-moments !
